Mission Inn Resort:
What is your favorite thing/part about weddings?
Shelby:
I love seeing couples on wedding day who are so in love and so hopeful for their future. Seeing the true joy and love in their eyes is so touching. Experiencing this and seeing this first hand inspires me every day to be the best wife that I can be to my husband.
Mission Inn Resort:
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Shelby:
I grew up wanting to be a Meteorologist. I’ve always had a fascination with weather and specifically storms. Each time there would be a tornado warning in Oklahoma and my mom would be hunkering down where it’s safe, my dad and I would always be at the front patio with a video camera waiting for the twister! Now that I’m in Florida, I’ll do the same thing with hurricanes! Some people say I’m crazy, but I think storms can be the most beautiful and awe-inspiring things in the world to witness.
Mission Inn Resort:
Three things that make you happy?
Shelby:
- Anything music related sets my heart on fire. Whether that is listening to music, playing my clarinet, watching my husband’s marching band on competition day, or belting my lungs out to the musical, Wicked. Music has always been a part of me and I wouldn’t be who I am today without it.
- Hanging out with my husband – whether we are going out on an adventure, or just staying in and watching movies. We are best friends and he always makes me laugh (even though it’s sometimes at him, not with him haha). He’s always making me smile. It’s not hard to be happy when I’m around him.
- Nature – this is a recent love of mine that has developed over the past couple years. Whether that means exploring new state parks and hiking the nature trails, kayaking on the lakes, sailing out on the ocean, or even camping (even with all of the bugs and the sweat). I’ve always been more of a girly girl and never imagined myself being an outdoorsy, but I truly love anything to do with nature. It’s just so calming and makes you really appreciate the little things.
Mission Inn Resort:
What is your favorite cake flavor?
Shelby:
Strawberry and Pina Colada are my absolute favorite and were the flavors of my wedding cake! Unfortunately, I was running around too much at my wedding to have any of the cake. If you’re getting married, take the time to enjoy your cake!
Mission Inn Resort:
Where are you from?
Shelby:
I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but moved to Florida when I was 8 years old. I consider myself a Floridian but still an Okie at heart. A lot of my family including my brother still lives in Oklahoma so I try to get back there to visit whenever I can.
Mission Inn Resort:
What is your favorite social media app?
Shelby:
Pinterest! No matter what you’re searching for, whether it’s the perfect cupcake recipe, DIY ideas, or wedding floral, you can always find inspiration on Pinterest. It’s the perfect app for finding fun, new wedding catering ideas!
Mission Inn Resort:
What’s your favorite holiday?
Shelby:
I love everything about Christmas! The lights, the music, the scents, spending time with family. The only thing that would make me love it even more is if I could actually enjoy a “White” Christmas.
Mission Inn Resort:
What are your favorite things to do in your free time?
Shelby:
Whether I’m in the car, at home cleaning, or just bored, you will always find me singing. It’s such a great escape and something I’ve always loved to do.
Mission Inn Resort:
Do you have a go to pick-me-up or a must have daily “fix”?
Shelby:
My daily smoothies!
Mission Inn Resort:
Tell us about your wedding day?
Shelby:
My wedding day was such a whirlwind, but it was absolutely perfect. We had a beautiful beach wedding on St Pete Beach. Both myself and my husband are Disney fans, so the wedding was Disney inspired and featured blues and purples. Each table featured a different Disney couple and our reception space was so gorgeous! It was on the top level of the resort with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. It truly was a fairytail wedding and I wouldn’t have changed anything about it (except I would have eaten the cake).
Thanks so very much for sharing a bit about you with the rest of us, Shelby. Welcome to the Mission Inn Resort Wedding Catering family!
