Jocelyn and Stephen’s Romantic Burgundy and Gold Wedding Weekend
Jocelyn and Stephen had a romantic burgundy and gold wedding weekend at Mission Inn’s Legends Ballroom.
Jocelyn saw the Legends ceremony space on her venue tour and instantly fell in love with the classic romance that surrounded the space. Stephen was sold when he heard all the amenities that his guests could enjoy at the resort. The couple wanted a full wedding weekend that could be an escape for family and friends from the everyday hustle and bustle.
Wedding weekend began on Friday evening. Jocelyn and Stephen’s nearest family and friends arrived for the wedding rehearsal. The rehearsal was followed by a Tuscan inspired rehearsal dinner with bridal party and immediate family. After the rehearsal guests checked into their hotel rooms and got settled in for the night.
Jocelyn rented a Mission Inn villa for herself and the bridal party for the night before the wedding. Breakfast and coffee was catered through the resort to the villa as the bridal party fussed over all of the details of the day. Epy Joel did an outstanding job artistically making over the entire bridal party. While the ladies spent the day getting ready, the guys headed to Mission Inn’s Trap and Skeet range for a friendly shooting competition.
Before the wedding, the bridal party acted as messengers and exchanged the couple’s pre-wedding gifts to each other. From Stephen, Jocelyn received a beautiful custom pair of Jimmy Choo pumps with their wedding date engraved on the bottom. For Stephen, Jocelyn chose Cartier cufflinks, a bottle of “Courage” cologne and a pair of Christian Louboutin’s to give him courage and strength for his walk down the aisle.
Jocelyn insisted through the planning process that she did not want to do a first look. Stephen was a bit surprised on the week leading up to the wedding when she changed her mind. He was so excited for a first look but also so nervous. He stood in the hotel lobby anxiously awaiting his bride. When he felt a hand touch his shoulder, he had to hold back tears of joy as he turned around. Stephen gasped when he found his future brother in law dressed in a full wedding gown. After exchanging a few brotherly punches, the two headed to the ceremony location to wait for the big moment.
A 1948 Cadillac Limousine drove Jocelyn from her Villa to the Legends Courtyard. As she sat in the car waiting for her escort, she looked like royalty. It was like watching the royal wedding.
Before walking down the aisle, Jocelyn wanted to do a real first look with her son. It was truly a special moment. Her son burst into tears when he saw his mother. She hugged him tight before he headed down the aisle.
The ceremony space was set uniquely with seating in a half moon around the bride and groom. Each guest had a perfect view. Fresh floral hung over the fountain. A string quartet greeted guests and preformed the wedding processional. When Jocelyn made her way down the aisle tears of happiness filled Stephen’s eyes.
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres on the Legends Terrace. During cocktail hour, the couple travelled by golf cart throughout the resort for photos at some of Resort’s most iconic portrait locations, including the Mission Inn Waterfall.
Beside the entrance of the ballroom was a large, eight foot mirror with guest seating assignments. Jocelyn chose this mirror knowing that after the wedding she wanted to place it in their home, so that she could always have a piece of their wedding day. Throughout cocktail hour, the curtains of the ballroom stayed shut so that guests could not see what awaited them.
As guests entered the reception space, the curtains were opened to reveal Legends Ballroom elegantly draped in ivory, gold and burgundy. Ivory swag hung from the ceiling, accenting the chandeliers in the room. A custom white dance floor sat at the center of the room. On one side of the dance floor was the wedding cake and sweetheart table. Across from the cake was a seating area reserved for the couple.
The wedding cake was created by Mercedes with The Cake Studio – Orlando. She custom-designed a five tier hanging cake decorated in white fondant with Swarovski crystals. The cake stand hung from ceiling and was dripping with fresh floral. It was paired with a fun groom’s cake that featured a life-like replica of Stephen popping out of the cake with a barbell. The cake was a fun way of displaying Stephen & Jocelyn’s love for body building and physical fitness.
The seating area for the newlyweds featured a gorgeous gold and ivory chaise lounge. This piece was custom designed for Jocelyn and driven from Mexico for the occasion. The chaise was positioned on another piece of white dance floor with a wall of roses behind it.
After introductions, toasts and formal dances were finished, Jocelyn and Stephen were asked to be seated in the chaise lounge. The couple was surprised as Jose Perez and Kaylee Bohgos from Dance It Studios performed a gorgeous, choreographed dance to Sarah Evan’s version of I Could Not Ask for More. The dance was absolutely gorgeous and looked like a scene from Dancing with the Stars. It was a beautiful gift from the best man and maid of honor.
After Jose and Kaylee cleared the dance floor, the bride and groom cut the cake and the party began.
Guests danced the night away with the newlyweds. Towards the end of the night, Stephen snuck away to the Legends Terrace for a moment alone with his new bride. Together they danced under the stars before rejoining their guests for the grand sparkler exit.
The wedding weekend came to an end on Sunday morning as Jocelyn and Stephen bid farewell to their guests over a wedding bon voyage brunch. The brunch was a perfect way to get together with friends and family one last time before saying goodbye.
It was an absolute pleasure for Mission Inn to host Jocelyn and Stephen’s romantic burgundy and gold wedding weekend. We wish them years of happiness in their new life together!

Couple’s Review of their Mission Inn Wedding Weekend:
From the first day we saw Legends, we were in love with the peaceful atmosphere and aesthetic of the location. The entire process was smooth. Everything the entire weekend was as desired and planned with no bumps on the road. The food was excellent and all of my guests were impressed with the service.
