At Home Date Ideas
An at home date is perfect when you cannot or do not want to leave the house. They are also cheaper than a night on the town. Here’s a bunch of ideas we’ve put together for you:
Vision Board Party
Remember those awesome collages you made as a kid? Grab all the magazines and brochures you can find laying around the house. Find a piece of poster board, cardboard, newspaper or paper plate to showcase your dreams. Work together on one board or separately on your own boards cutting and gluing together life’s dreams, aspirations and goals.
Plant a Garden Together
Gardening can be a great bonding experience, plus it is relaxing and rewarding. If you happen to have packs of seeds lying around, perfect! Otherwise, head to a local stores that sells plants or if you cannot get to a store, take a drive and look for local farmers selling from the side of the road. Then get your hands dirty, start digging and plant away.

Create Art for the House
The point is not to be a Picasso, it’s to have fun! Remember to put down newspaper, trash bag or old shower curtain to protect the work space and go crazy. Whether it’s painting a picture, sculpting or something else completely – let your creativity run wild! Looking for some unique diy wall art projects? Check out this list featured on Buzzfeed.
Top Chef Challenge
Create some fun competition with a cook-off. Set a timer for one minute and race into the kitchen grabbing up ingredients for your creation. Once the timer goes off, it’s time to start cooking. Each of you gets one hour to prepare and cook whatever you can with the ingredients you’ve put together. After the hour is up, taste each other’s creations and judge based on taste, presentation and uniqueness. Then enjoy one of the creations for dinner tonight and package the other for dinner tomorrow. The perfect recipe for a fun at home date.
Star Gazing
With blanket in hand, head to the lawn, patio or roof and take a look up at the night sky. Lay on the blanket hand in hand, trying to guess constellations or pick stars for each other. Have binoculars or a telescope? Added bonus! Who knows, maybe you’ll even see a shooting star.

Game Night
Time to pull out all the old board games or a deck of cards. Show your competitive side with a heated board game battle. Winner gets out of doing dishes for the night.
Funny Fashion Show
A fashion show is a super fun way to clean out the closet, without it feeling like a chore. Go through the closet, and pull out the items you haven’t worn in forever. Assemble fun outfits and walk the “cat walk” for each other. Then create a donate pile for clothes you no longer love. For added fun – if your donate pile is big enough at the end of the project, jump in it together like a pile of leaves just for fun before bagging it up.
Candlelight and Cabernet
Order your favorite meal at a local restaurant to be delivered by a service like UberEats or GrubHub. After placing the order, go get dressed in your “dress up” clothes – an old bridesmaids dress, a tacky bow tie – whatever you can find. Then dim the lights, light the candles, cue the romantic 90’s boy band music and pour some glasses of wine. Once dinner arrives, transfer it to your fanciest china. Enjoy your dinner and wine while talking about things you don’t normally have time to talk about.
Truth or Dare, My Dear
Remember playing this game in high school or college? It’s definitely a classic. Keep it light and fun and definitely do not ask any questions you wouldn’t want to really know the answer to. Here’s some fun ideas for you:
Truths:
- What was your last thing you searched on your phone?
- What is your biggest pet peeve?
- Who’s your celebrity crush?
Dares:
- Attempt to break dance for 30 seconds
- Put on an outfit of your other half
- Call the 9th number in your phone and sing to them for 30 seconds

Slumber Party
Grab blankets and sheets, put on your most fun pajamas and build a pillow fort in the living room. Make microwaved s’mores, tell spooky ghost stories by flashlight, snuggle in a sleeping back together and laugh the night away. Best part? Now that you’re an adult you don’t have to worry about mom or dad telling you to “hush” and “go to sleep”!
Brunch About It
While one handles cooking the bacon and eggs, the other is making waffles and pouring mimosas. Then, if the weather permits, grab your plates and drinks and head out to the patio, deck or yard for a garden brunch.
Get Puzzled
Break out a jigsaw puzzle, the more pieces the better. Cuddle up close and spend the day putting the puzzle together. Want more of a challenge? Dump two boxes of pieces together, mix them up and work on two puzzles at once.
Photo Shoot
Do your hair and makeup, get a few different outfits and host a photo shoot! You can decide to keep it real, make it fun and silly or get sexy with a boudoir shoot (oh-la-la). Seeing someone through a lens allows you to see them in a whole new light.
Relive the College Days
Time to relive the college days with a night of fun drinking games together. Grab some drinks, alcoholic or not, and spend the evening playing games that once upon a time seemed only appropriate at a frat house. Some favorites include, never have I ever, quarters and beer pong.
Spa Day
Light some candles, put on some relaxing music and treat each other to at home spa day date. You can start the spa day with a warm bath and face masks and then spend head to the room and treat each other with massages. Not sure how to give a good massage? You can limit it to one country per date or you can mix it up. For added bonus, try creating a signature drink from your travel locals using the ingredients you have at home.
